Small Business Accountant - Marcum Search

Marcum Search has an immediate full-time Small Business Accountant opportunity with one of our growing CPA Firm clients. The ideal candidate should have experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Online and have full-cycle accounting and tax preparation experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with various clients on their accounting and taxes, troubleshooting and answering questions as needed.
• Full general ledger accounting, including the preparation of the trial balance at year-end for the tax return.
• Work with PIC to reconcile retained earnings/equity account reconciliation.
• Preparation of payroll and payroll taxes, CAT, sales & use, as well as personal and corporate returns.
• Provide training to clients on new systems and processes as it relates to their financial/accounting operations.
• Ability to work independently, also must be willing/able to travel to clients as needed.

Education & Experience Required

• Undergraduate or degree in accounting and/or 5+ years of full charge bookkeeping and tax in a client service organization.
• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products, QuickBooks and tax prep software are a must.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Dedication to teamwork and leadership.
• Project management skills.
• Integrity within a professional environment.
• Understanding of tax concepts and application to client situations.

Other Responsibilities

• Prepares other reports and performs projects and duties as may be assigned.

Working Conditions

• Frequent same day travel for work at client’s offices, meetings and seminars using a personal vehicle.
• Occasional overtime work required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work required from January to April 15; may be in excess of 55 hours per week.
