About the Job
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados USA, Flatiron and VINCI has been selected to construct the $3.8BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate plant operations.
- Maintain a safe and clean plant inside and outside.
- Follow plant procedures.
- Responsible to perform the mud test.
- Responsible for interpreting test results.
- Responsible for adjusting the drilling mud quality to suit the parameters requested and the geology crossed.
- Responsible for plant production goals.
- Responsible for quality of the muck from the slurry plan.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass drug screen
- Strongly prefer candidates with High School Diploma
- Available to work Day / Night shift work as needed
- At least one previous experience on large slurry treatment plant coupled with large diameter horizontal TBM preferred
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Basics of chemistry and geology
- Basics in mechanic
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to manage small crew in difficult environment

Working conditions are normal for a separation plant environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, gloves, work boots, and hardhats.
