Job Responsibilities:
Our Cat Heavy Equipment Technician internship is eligible for the SkillBridge program, a Department of Defense initiative to help transitioning, active-duty service members gain valuable civilian work experience. This program provides professional growth and development of technical skills and knowledge through mentorship, instructor-led and computer-based learning, and on-the-job training preparing participants for a rewarding career with Mustang Cat.
As a Cat Heavy Equipment Mechanic, your primary responsibility is to determine the status of services needed for various heavy and light construction equipment and perform the necessary repairs and maintenance to restore the equipment to proper operation. This includes set-up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered heavy equipment.

Eligibility:
- Must be within 180 days of transition from military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard)
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
- Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
- Open to all qualified transitioning active-duty U.S. service members, both officer and enlisted, of any rank and branch
Position requirements:
- Proven mechanical background and aptitude
- Military experience in equipment or diesel maintenance and repair
- Ability to demonstrate technical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, and fuel systems with a strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Safety-oriented
