Site Safety Manager
Reports to: Safety Manager
Employment Type: Contract/Project Based
Position Summary:
Implement policies and procedures in the field for general safety and health. Assist in adapting and implementing policies and procedures on project requirements, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental protection, and ergonomics to ensure company objectives are met.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and evaluate jobsite safety daily to identify unsafe conditions and procedures, performing a follow-up to ensure they are corrected. |
2. Assist project supervision in daily implementation and enforcement of jobsite safety rules. |
3. Coordinate and perform new hire orientations and other necessary training in compliance with federal and local regulations. Document and maintain all records of training provided. |
4. Conduct or participate in daily and weekly Safety meetings with craft personnel. Participate in monthly Safety Committee Meetings. |
5. Perform both formal and impromptu safety and health audits and recommend corrective actions when necessary. |
6. Interface with customer and subcontractor safety representatives to coordinate safety and health efforts. |
7. Assist in all incident investigations and develop "lessons learned" and/or corrective action(s) from the incident. |
8. Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure they are following NCC safety policies & procedures. |
9. Report and manage all Safety incidents associated with the assigned project. |
10. Assist departments in developing action plans to reduce or eliminate occupational illnesses and injuries using a pre-job hazard assessment. |
11. Report all jobsite activities to the EHS Compliance Manager while receiving daily direction from the site Project Manager. |
12. Perform other assignments per the EHS Compliance Manager's direction. |
13. Assist the Human Resource Dept. in potential harassment or legal issues. |
14. Enforce and assist in managing the site Substance Abuse Program. |
15. Maintain and enforce client confidentiality and selling/pricing integrity. |
Required knowledge | Working knowledge of OSHA standards. Understanding of heavy industrial construction i.e., refineries, power plants. Basic understanding of industrial hygiene principles, fire prevention, ergonomics. General knowledge of worker's compensation. |
Required skills or abilities | Good computer literacy skills. Good communication skills (written & verbal). Public speaking. Excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent conflict resolution skills -Strong Presentation Skills. Ability to identify and assess hazards as well as provide appropriate options for mitigation. |
Formal education | Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or Associate Science degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required. |
Experience | 5-7 years of experience in a safety-related position within refining industry. |
Certification(s) | BCSP - ASP or CSP Current TWIC |

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: · Employee is subject to inside and outside conditions, including high and low ambient temperatures. · Employee is subject to hazards of operating at elevated levels. · Employee may occasionally wear a respirator or fall protection harness and lanyard. Employees will occasionally be subject to noise levels above 85 decibels and will be required to wear ear protection. |
