About the Job
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development and implementation of safe work practices and procedures to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, by utilizing knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychological and industrial health and safety laws, in order to ensure company, client, and OSHA health and safety compliance
- Oversea and maintain ISN
- Oversees new hire safety orientation for employees at site
- Is able to complete orientation when/if necessary
- Oversees distribution of new and replacements of personal protective equipment, ensuring employees have a clear understanding of its importance, as well as how to utilize the equipment
- Is able to complete issuing of above items when/if necessary
- Conducts daily jobsite safety meetings, and reports related audit findings to appropriate supervision
- Ensures employees have necessary training to perform job specific tasks
- Conducts site equipment operator and flagger training
- Conducts and/or coordinates safety training to educate workers about safety policies, laws and practices
- Assists in pre-job hazard analysis
- Performs job site audits to ensure compliance with site and company safety policies/standards, as well as applicable industry standards. Documents and communicates findings to appropriate supervision
- Tours assigned plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Responds to, and investigates, IPC employee-related industrial incidents to minimize recurrence. Prepares incident reports for appropriate supervision in a timely manner
- May conduct air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors
- Ensures H2S policy compliance including but not limited to verification of consistent and proper H2S monitor use, as well as proper monitor functionality and bump testing. Tracks and reports findings to appropriate supervision.
- Assists in random alcohol and drug testing procedures
- Assists in filing/tracking of employee training and medical records
- Actively participates in site Behavior Based Safety programs, and trains IPC employees on site-specific BBS procedures; stressing the importance of the program and how it directly relates to their safety
- Adheres to all relevant health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls in order to guarantee the safety of employees, quality of products and services, and environmental compliance
Skills:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
- Ability to lead a team
- Ability to work autonomously
- Proficient in ISN
Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 years of experience in a commercial/industrial plant environment
- Must have OSHA training in safety
- CPR, AED & First Aid
- Train the Trainer: Aerial and Fork Lift
- Competent Person Training: Fall Protection Awareness and Personal Fall
- Completion of requisite training
- Must successfully pass background, drug/alcohol testing
- Ability to adhere to standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 49lbs
- Ability to work at heights in excess of 50feet
- Ability to push, pull, turn, hold, grab: objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Ability to climb ladders and stairways, work from man lifts
- Ability to work out on an open structure / platform using the appropriate fall protection requirements
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glass/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather steel toe work boots
