Job Description:
The Site Manager will assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the installation, testing, and acceptance of a new Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system for the MBTA Transit projects in Boston.
The ideal candidate should have transit construction project experience and a background in tunnel environments.
The Site Manager will report directly to the Project Manager and serve as the local, day-to-day point of contact for the project.
The Site Manager will ensure the project is executed in accordance with the contract, within a defined scope, and adhering to cost, quality, and schedule constraints. Regular communication and coordination with the Project Manager and project teams are key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight and Coordination
Represent the client on-site at least four (4) days a week.
Manage multiple sites simultaneously with qualified site managers.
Provide daily/weekly informal project updates via email or voice communication.
Submit monthly project status reports to the Project Manager.
Review and provide input on the project schedule's suitability.
Risk Management and Quality Control
Identify, manage, and mitigate risks while proactively addressing potential problems.
Ensure adherence to quality control procedures per the Quality Assurance Plan.
Inspect and approve materials and installed work for compliance with architectural and structural site drawings, specifications, and industry standards
Safety and Compliance
Communicate safety plans and schedule safety meetings with the project team, subcontractors, and MBTA.
Monitor and secure all Federal, State, and Local permits for site construction, ensuring timely inspections and addressing deficiencies promptly.
Enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring the safety of the public, site visitors, and staff on-site.
Site Supervision and Documentation
Supervise installation teams and coordinate work among installers, subcontractors, and MBTA organizations.
Maintain on-site project documentation, including photographic records of key site operations.
Coordinate final documentation submittals and ensure accuracy of site drawings, including as-built documentation.
Material and Equipment Management
Oversee site receipt, inventory, and tracking of project materials and equipment.
Coordinate with local MBTA teams for shipments and installations.
Subcontractor and Team Management
Supervise and manage all site-based personnel, including conducting safety inductions and toolbox talks.
Oversee quality of work, cleanliness, proper tool use, and adherence to safety protocols.
Provide technical support and guidance to subcontractors as needed.
Project Execution Support
Assist with site construction, electrical, zoning, and other permits as advised.
Coordinate system tests, acceptance processes, and customer-provided training.
Supervise radio installation and distribution with MBTA representatives.
Support the project team in expediting timely project completion and commissioning.
Qualifications:
Experience and Skills
At least 10 years of combined experience in LMR system installation, on-site construction, and project management.
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
Proficiency in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) requirements.
Experience in oversight of tower, shelter, grounding systems, generator, UPS, primary AC/DC power, and antenna/coax installation.
Other Requirements
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including MBTA representatives.
