Job Description:
As the Mechanic Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing the operations of the shop, ensuring high standards of customer service, overseeing the repair team, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. You will play a key role in developing and executing shop goals and will be expected to drive both performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Oversee daily shop operations, including scheduling, work assignments, and ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
- Ensure high standards of quality and workmanship on all repairs and services.
- Manage inventory, order parts, and keep track of materials and supplies to maintain efficiency.
- Implement and monitor shop safety protocols and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries, estimates, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Monitor shop performance, identifying opportunities for improvements in productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Prepare reports on shop activities, financial performance, and workforce productivity.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the shop at all times.
- Ensure proper training and development opportunities for staff.
- Collaborate with the senior management to develop shop budgets and financial plans.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in automotive repair and/or shop management.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills; excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Technical knowledge: In-depth understanding of automotive repair processes, systems, and equipment.
- Customer service: Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and staff.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or management training is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
