FULL DESCRIPTION: The Machine Shop Foreman supervises and coordinates the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring that production goals are met with efficiency, quality, and safety. This position is responsible for overseeing the work of machinists and other shop personnel, managing workflow, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and company policies.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Supervision & Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine shop personnel to ensure production targets are met on time.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate machinists, ensuring they follow best practices, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to resolve technical problems in machining processes.
- Production Management:
- Organize daily work schedules, assignments, and workflow to maximize productivity.
- Ensure that machine shop equipment is functioning properly, and coordinate with maintenance personnel to address any issues.
- Maintain a high level of quality control and inspect workpieces to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, training, and inspections to minimize workplace hazards.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
- Inventory & Maintenance Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of machines and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Track and manage materials, tools, and supplies, ensuring inventory is adequate for production needs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend and implement improvements in machining processes, equipment, and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and quality control, to resolve production or design issues.
The selected candidate will also possess:
- Education & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Knowledge of machining techniques, blueprints, and CAD software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Salary Range: $31-$42/hr
