About the Job
Manage the Shipping/Receiving Department. This position is responsible for shipping and receiving product, as well as storing it for inventory and for examining contents of containers and comparing with records such as pack slips/lists, manifests, invoices, sales and purchase orders, etc. to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes. Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. In addition, managing the warehouse staff and attending to different tasks so as to make sure that goods are shipped and/or delivered in a timely way.
In the process of carrying out duties, the manager works with truck companies, freight forwarders, custom officials, and warehouse personnel to ensure best routing for shipments arrive and are delivered within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Verify contents in comparison with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to ensure accuracy of an incoming or outgoing shipment.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes.
- Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates, as well as contract specifications for packaging and shipping product.
- Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Packs, seals, labels, and affixes postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
- Prepares documents, such as bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials.
- Delivers or routes materials to departments, using a hand truck, pallet jack or forklift.
- Requisitions and stores shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Enters applicable information into WAWF (Wide Area Work Flow) for electronic government invoicing, and SIR (Shipping Instruction Request).
- Perform other duties as assigned by management personnel.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air and ground. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems beneficial. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods. Knowledge of inventory practices.
- Minimum HS diploma/ GED required. Some college preferred.
- Three years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse or logistics environment in a managerial role
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.
- High level oral and written communication skills for written and verbal interactions with vendors and other employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative work relationships with co-workers and vendors.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and to manage multiple projects/responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to read and write in English and perform simple math calculations.
- Good problem-solving skills to identify logistics or product related issue, collect data, identify potential causes, and draw rational conclusions.
- Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR/ATF Regulations, as well as HAZ-Mat certification.
