Job Summary
The shipping & receiving clerk is responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing shipments. Perform all activities for domestic and international shipping.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares packing lists for all outbound shipments in QuickBooks.
- Prepares bills of lading, checks items to be shipped against documents, quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Prepares customer shipment notification, and email to customer.
- Prepares domestic and international shipping labels using UPS, FedEx, and DHL; check sales order and PO# for shipping instructions.
- Packs items to ensure safe delivery.
- Prepare international customs documentation.
- Maintain daily shipping and receiving log.
- Process incoming deliveries and perform receiving inspections by comparing information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipment; properly processes return shipments from customers.
- Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies purchasing.
- Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents as required.
- May maintain department database, prepares routine reports, and shipping and receiving records.
- Operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift with training in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental standards.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as needed.
Required Skills
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

- Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude
Preferred Skills
- Familiar with QuickBooks and/or MRP systems.
- Proficient with Excel and various freight carrier shipping applications.
- Forklift certification.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ prior experience
Education Requirements
- Minimum High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
