The Toys for Trucks Shipping Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Shipping Department. This role involves supervising staff, delegating tasks, and coordinating with other departments to meet shipping requirements. This role requires a highly motivated, growth-minded leader who ensures compliance with company policies, maintains a safe and organized work environment, and trains new team members.
The Shipping Manager must be able to perform hands-on duties such as picking, packaging, labeling, and loading outbound pallets via forklift. Additionally, the role requires successful completion of an Automotive Parts 49CFR/IATA Hazmat course.
We are looking for a go-getter with attention to detail, strong coaching skills, and drive to succeed.
This role is Monday to Friday 8-hour shifts, with few weekend requirements allowing for work/life balance. Weekend coverage is required based on coverage needs and is Friday - Sunday 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities.
- Supervise and oversee Shipping Department staff
- Maintain a positive work environment while completing all assigned tasks
- Delegate workload to staff to maximize efficiency and meet strict deadlines
- Control workflow of packaging, picking, shipping and any other duties assigned
- Interface with Order Processing, Retail, and Customer Service Departments to ensure the completion of all shipping needs
- Maintain current knowledge of Company policies & procedures; uphold said policies & procedures among staff
- Complete all work in a timely and accurate manner
- Train new employees with a positive disposition
- Perform duties of subordinates, including labeling, weighing product, operating shrink wrap machine, fill boxes and/or bags with product, maintaining records and files
- Create, know and enforce all Hazmat safety policies & regulations, ensure a clean work environment
- Maintain the Hazmat process
- Load outbound shipments
- Ability to drive and or become forklift certified
- Ability to become Hazmat Certified in IATA and 49 CFR
- Ability to use powered equipment such as Crown WAV, Powered Pallet jacks, etc.
- Maintain all Safety Data Sheets along with the Toys For Trucks SDS Index
Requirements & Qualifications.
- Cognitive ability to plan tasks & delegate; accordingly, as well as mathematical abilities to assess product needs and order fulfillment
- Advanced Google Sheets & Excel knowledge
- Emotional maturity, resilience, and leadership skills to lead a department in all aspects of job functions, employee issues, and communications
- Effective, tactful interpersonal verbal & written communication skills
- Fine motor skills to place product according to standard procedure & with gentleness, to not damage the product
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties to meet strict deadlines, while maintaining a high quality of work performance
- Maintains a polished and professional company image
- Ability to bend, kneel to stock/retrieve products
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work Monday-Friday
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs + repeatedly throughout a shift
- Ability to be on one's feet for up to 8-10 hours per day
Compensation.
Base Salary: Based on experience - Negotiable
