About the Job
Sayres, a leading provider of defense support services to the DOD, is currently seeking an experienced Senior-Level Marine Engineer with the ability to obtain a current SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Washington, DC. This position may offer remote and/or hybrid work arrangements based on customer discretion.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior-Level Marine Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing engineering and technical support for various shipbuilding activities. Your expertise will encompass concept studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design activities, contract design activities, detail design and construction activities, independent design reviews, in-service ship design and engineering activities, shipboard installation support, and special studies related to ships, boats, craft, ship systems, and shipboard equipment.
Additionally, you will offer naval architecture, marine engineering, and electrical engineering support, delving into the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard a diverse range of vessels, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) assets.
Additional Duties:
1. Ship Operations and Testing: Collaborate with ship operations teams and conduct shipboard testing to assess the functionality and performance of installed systems and equipment.
2. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee and mentor junior engineers, ensuring efficient teamwork and fostering professional growth within the department.
3. Program Management Communication: Effectively communicate technical information to program management teams, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
4. Design Innovation: Participate in the development of innovative design solutions to enhance ship performance, efficiency, and safety.
5. Lifecycle Support: Offer technical support and expertise throughout the lifecycle of ships, from initial design and construction to in-service operations and maintenance.
6. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to relevant Navy procedures and policies, including the DoD 5000 process and other regulatory standards.
Preferred Skill Sets:
- Master's degree in Engineering discipline.
- Possess an Unlimited Horsepower Chief Engineers License.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
- Familiarity with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Military Sealift Command procedures and processes.
Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:
- Bachelor's of Science in Marine Engineering or Transportation.
- Active or Inactive Unlimited Horsepower Chief Engineers License.
- 10+ years of experience in Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS.
