JOB DESCRIPTION
The Shift Supervisor / Manager helps ensure that the restaurant operates smoothly and in a high state of cleanliness while learning the business of restaurant management through on the job training. He or she will learn to manage and train the staff to ensure they provide exceptional service to customers in a timely, courteous, efficient, and accurate manner and that they follow proper sanitation standards and keep all areas clean and sanitary at all times. In addition the Shift Leader will interact with customers and learn to manage restaurant finances and execute cost control systems.
The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma with at least one year of restaurant experience. Previous management / supervisor experience in a hospitality, food service, or customer service position is highly preferred. Fluent English speaking and written communication skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the daily operations but also contributes to the operations by quickly and efficiently serving customers with fellow employees
- Prepares deposits and maintains a cash management system
- Takes orders and serves meals and beverages promptly and courteously
- Helps with other areas of the restaurant when needed
- Sets up cash drawer and follows security procedures
- Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
- Completes closing checklists
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have availability to work nights and weekends.
- High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required; some post high school education or training preferred
- One year of relevant experience
- Experience in supervising and managing staff
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Must exhibit a sense of urgency and be comfortable in a fast paced environment
