Las Vegas Petroleum is a rapidly growing operator of travel centers, consisting of gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants. With 13 Conoco-branded C&G assets in the Las Vegas Metro area, and the ability to purchase unbranded fuel through partnerships with Phillips 66, Gulf, Sunoco, 76, and Conoco, we supply over one million gallons of fuel per month to 32 locations. The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing store operations during their assigned shift, ensuring smooth and efficient store performance. This includes supervising employees, maintaining store standards, handling customer service issues, and supporting the Store and Assistant Store Manager in day-to-day operations. The Shift Lead plays a vital role in providing leadership and ensuring that the store meets its operational, sales, and customer service goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shift Operations:
- Supervise the store during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, securing the premises, and ensuring all necessary tasks are completed.
- Ensure that all employees are following store policies, procedures, and safety protocols during the shift.
- Monitor store cleanliness and organization, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the shift.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Lead by example in promoting a customer-first attitude among the team.
- Assist in managing difficult or complex customer situations to ensure satisfaction.
- Staff Supervision and Support:
- Lead and direct the work of cashiers, stock clerks, and other store employees during the shift.
- Assist in training new employees and provide ongoing coaching to the team.
- Monitor employee performance, providing feedback, motivation, and support to ensure effective teamwork.
- Assign and delegate tasks to team members, ensuring the store runs efficiently.
- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Assist with monitoring inventory levels and ensure that shelves are stocked and organized.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and notify the manager of low stock or inventory discrepancies.
- Assist with product ordering and restocking as needed.
- Sales and Cash Handling:
- Ensure accurate cash handling during the shift, including managing cash registers and balancing tills.
- Assist in processing customer transactions, handling cash, credit, and debit payments.
- Monitor store sales and customer transactions to identify opportunities to increase sales and improve store performance.
- Health, Safety, and Security:
- Ensure that store operations comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor security systems and address any safety or security concerns during the shift.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or safety hazards to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager promptly.
- Problem Solving and Communication:
- Act as the point of contact for employees and customers during the shift, resolving issues as needed.
- Communicate any concerns, issues, or operational needs to the Store or Assistant Manager.
- Support the Store Manager in implementing promotional campaigns, seasonal displays, and special offers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in retail management or customer service is a plus.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or convenience store environments is preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and customer complaints professionally.
- Basic understanding of cash handling, inventory control, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, such as stocking shelves and organizing products.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 30-50 pounds.
- Ability to handle various equipment, including cash registers, scanners, and other store machinery.
