About the job...
Depending on experience, our Fabricators perform various levels of work within the aircraft float fabrication process. As you gain experience and receive training, the work you will be performing will be more complex and you will have the opportunity to advance. Please note - there is no welding in this position.
- Performs simple fabrication and assemblies of aircraft floats under the guidance of more experienced fabricators.
- Forms material to match blueprint specifications or sample parts, following instructions.
- Operates equipment and utilizes common hand tools to manufacture and assemble parts.
- Inspects all parts for cleanliness and defects.
- Keeps Production Supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
- Records time in ERP software and signs off work order for each process of assembly.
- Follows procedures that support compliance to FAA regulations.
If hired as or promoted to a Senior Fabricator, you will have the additional duties of:
- Selecting appropriate raw materials and prefabricated parts to perform moderately complex fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts and assemblies. Verifying conformance to industry and Company standards. Providing feedback to lesser experienced workers.
- Interpreting specifications, drawings, and/or sample parts to determine machine adjustments and material processing requirements.
- Identifying and performing processes needed for fabrication and assembly.
- Inspecting all parts and assemblies for cleanliness and conformity. If non-conformities exist, notifying Production Supervisor for corrective action.
- Maintaining traceability of material and parts issued to jobs, returning unused material through proper procedures.
- Following engineering drawings and specifications to install, connect, or bond aircraft parts using adhesives, rivets, or threaded fasteners.
- Preparing and using jigs or fixtures to aid in locating, bonding, or drilling aircraft parts.

Required Experience:
All Levels - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High school diploma or GED preferred. Senior level: 1 year technical diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in assembly and fabrication preferred. Senior level: Three years’ minimum related experience in assembly and fabrication strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in working with hand tools and common metal shop tasks.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Exhibit manual dexterity and able to use hand tools, including files, hammers, snips; power tools such as sanders, drills, riveters, and grinders.
- Understand, speak, and effectively communicate in the English language, including oral and written instructions, to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
- Move around the plant area repeatedly throughout the day.
- Stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Use close vision to see small parts and review detailed information, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic using various units of measure such as decimals and fractions.
- Able to understand and complete written or verbal instructions. Able to manage problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Able to learn to safely and properly use the kind of tools and equipment needed to make the parts assigned.
- Conform to applicable FAA and other regulatory requirements in all aspects of the work.
- Work as an effective and proactive team-player; exhibit flexibility and switch priorities in work duties while maintaining a helpful, positive approach.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position with an expected pay range of $23.00/hour - $32.00/hour. Within this range, pay offered will be based on the candidate's skills, experience, education, and other qualifications.
