We are seeking an entry level Service Technician-Undercarriage at our state of the art dealership in Flowood. The Service Technician-Undercarriage is responsible for for the set-up, inspection, and repair, and installation of machine undercarriage components on Caterpillar track-type heavy equipment. This is an entry level skilled trade position working independently and/or with guidance from service mentors in a service shop setting. The position reports to the Shop Supervisor.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Clean, inspect, and use specific tooling to remove, repair, and install undercarriage components and parts, including but not limited to track groups, idlers, rollers, equalizer bars, roller frames, and pivot shafts in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
- Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Test, measure, and adjust undercarriage systems and components.
- Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.
- Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.
- Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner.
- Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.
- Prepare, inspect and test operate machines prior to delivery.
- Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
