Biogas Field Service Technician
Biogas Field Service Technicians operate and perform routine maintenance on anaerobic digestion and natural gas processing equipment as well as assisting on miscellaneous operational and administrative duties. Technicians spend the majority of their time working closely with customers to ensure that the company’s value proposition is realized by our customers. An unrelenting focus on safety for all activities is paramount. With a customer-centric focus, the Biogas Field Service Technician must possess a strong capacity for attention to detail and a sense of urgency for both the customer and the company to meet and exceed operational goals.
Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician
- Independently and safely operate and maintain on-site natural gas and anaerobic digestion equipment
- Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures
- Communicate with customer and other customer contractors to maximize performance of equipment and operations
- Follow proper start-up, shut-down, and monitoring programs
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by assisting in any preventative maintenance programs or needed repairs
- Perform administrative functions related to unit operation and maintenance
- Routinely communicate with Operations Manager
- Perform general housekeeping duties and be familiar with the company’s HAZOP and Spill Prevention Plans
- Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications of the Field Service Technician
- RNG Processing Equipment knowledge and experience a plus
- Gas Compression and Conditioning Equipment experience preferred
- PLC / HMI Knowledge and Troubleshooting experience preferred
- Manure Handling Equipment Operations and Repairs experience a plus
- Anaerobic Digester Operations experience a plus
- Equipment Operation experience, including but not limited to, front-end loader, all terrain forklift, and various types of personnel lifting equipment
- Basic Electrical knowledge and minor troubleshooting a plus
- Mechanical ability, prior experience with dairy related equipment preferred
- Must be self-directed and possess the ability to perform duties with little to no supervision
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, to the client, the host farm and its owners and employees, vendors, contractors, any gov’t agencies that you may interact with responsive and respectful to fellow employees and management
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Computer skills including some PLC and HMI controls
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s and other construction and fabrication drawings
- Willing to be on-call with rotating schedule (regular attendance and punctuality a must)
- Microsoft Office Suite skills a plus
- Scheduling and record-keeping skills
- First Aid / CPR Trained, or willing to be certified within 6 months
- Ability to pass customer, company, and regulatory safety and operator qualification programs
- Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
- Required to successfully complete a background check and drug screening prior to being hired
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing throughout employment
Work Environment
- Must be available to work all shifts and schedules
- Work in all climate conditions
- Available for emergency call outs
- Travel may be required
- Heavy lifting required
