BRG Service Porter (Polisher) Job Description:
The Service Porter (Polisher) is an important part of the team, ensuring that all equipment is clean, organized, and maintained at a high standard for service. Service Porters work in tandem with the Steward team to ensure glassware, plateware, silverware, and cutlery is returned to the dining room blemish free. Polishers work quickly and deliberately while always maintaining a calm demeanor, interacting with fellow employees, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Polish glassware, plateware, and silverware & cutlery
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation
- Follow health and safety guidelines
- Work with dish station employees to ensure adequate supplies are available
- Ensure all stations are stocked to par with china, silverware, glassware, utensils, condiments, linen and maintain adequate supplies in the workstations when the dining room is open and inform management when inventories are low
- Fold napkins and make extra place settings ensuring proper linen and paper products are stocked for the dining room, kitchen, and washrooms
- Support the front of house employees in accommodating the needs of the guests
- When necessary, clean all polishing equipment using proper cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Change and clean garbage, recycling, and broken glass bins when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms when restroom attendants aren't scheduled
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, preferred.
- Ability to stay professional in a stressful work environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional manner.
- Superb multitasking skills and an eye for detail.
- Available to work different hours including weekends, days, nights, and holidays.
- Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance.
- Ability to uphold company standards relating to appearance and dress.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong task and time management abilities.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods (eight or more hours). Able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight up to 50 lbs. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day. Able to reach above head and shoulder levels. Able to twist, kneel, bend and crawl. Able to squat and crouch. Able to perform sweeping motion, front-to-back and side-to-side. Able to work in confined spaces. Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals. Able to climb stairs and ladders.

- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes meeting quality standards and company standard policies and procedures.
- Able to listen and follow instructions, work unsupervised, and adapt to changing situations.
