Job Title: ServiceNow Engineer (SNOW)
Location: Fort Meade, MD
Clearance: Top Secret, Full Scope Polygraph (TS/SCI w/ FSP)
Position Summary
The Software Engineer SME will support our government customer maintaining customer's Enterprise ServiceNow Platform infrastructure, providing day-to-day O&M support to application developers and users of the ServiceNow platform. The performance of this position is key to organization's performance, and therefore our mission to support the government customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform regular ServiceNow security patching and release upgrades.
- Maintain and add new capabilities to the core ServiceNow platform to enhance functionality for tenants.
- Perform scans/create documentation in support of Accreditation and Authorization (A&A) process.
- Develop, test, and deploy updates to ServiceNow based on customer requirements.
- Customize and configure ServiceNow applications and facilitate rollout of new applications and modules; configure Application User Interface and configure workflow.
- Collaborate effectively with Service Now System Engineers and developers to develop solutions and handle general updates and configuration changes/requests.
- Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions.
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of the processes, standards, policies, working methods, and tools.
- Ensure appropriate tools and processes are in place to have a development/production environment that is reliable and reproducible.
- Ensure tool configuration consistency across Development, Testing, Integration, and Production environments.
- Participate in ongoing production support and end-user support.
- Document testing and maintenance of system corrections.
- Research, understand, and develop using new technologies and standards as needed.
- Research, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
- Involved in planning system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
- Evaluate the interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of the overall system.
- Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
- Submit regular Status Reports as required by manager.
- Monitor company email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
- Complete required compliance training as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge and Critical Skills
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator CSA) or ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow Development Platform including, but not limited to, ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, and Discovery.
- Ability to write, update, and deploy Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Cloudformation, CDK or Terraform.
- Proficient in GIT for version control and collaborative software development.
- Strong understanding of Cl/CD methodologies.
- Ability to write scripts in JavaScript, Bash, and Python for automation and software development tasks.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and principles.
- Ability to efficiently and appropriately estimate work effort requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Aptitude and willingness to work with variety of newer emerging technologies/tools as opportunities demand.
- Ability to deliver enhanced functionality, aid with new implementations, and provide continuous support within the scheduled time while preserving system integrity required.
- High degree of initiative, creativity, and technical ability to function on this team is required.
- Ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
Education & Work Experience
- A minimum of eighteen 18 years of relevant experience; sixteen (16 years relevant experience with bachelor's or master's degrees.
- Experience with deploying, updating, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure platforms such as EC2, ELB, S3, EBS RDS and KMS.
- Experience with AWS Lambda or other equivalent serverless technology for developing and managing scalable platforms.
- Experience and knowledge in ServiceNow GenAI capabilities.
- Experience with Database Administration (Oracle, MYSQL, MariaDB, or Postgres).
- Experience with developing and maintaining enterprise container solutions such as Kubernetes.
Certifications, Licenses
- AWS Cloud Certification
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator CSA) certification, preferred at start, required after 6 months of employment.
