Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Service Manager with a strong focus on maintenance to oversee the operations of our transportation company's service center. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in both preventative and reactionary maintenance, along with exceptional leadership skills and a dedication to ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet. As the Service Manager, you will play a key role in maximizing the lifespan and performance of our vehicles through effective maintenance practices.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies to optimize the performance and reliability of our fleet. This includes both preventative maintenance schedules and reactive repair protocols.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the service center team, including technicians, mechanics, and administrative staff. Set clear expectations, provide guidance, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee the development and execution of preventative maintenance programs to minimize the risk of unexpected breakdowns and extend the lifespan of our vehicles. This includes regular inspections, servicing, and component replacements.
- Reactive Maintenance: Coordinate the timely diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues, breakdowns, and accidents. Ensure that all repairs are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of our drivers.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of parts, supplies, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repairs. Ensure that adequate stock is maintained, and orders are placed promptly to avoid delays in servicing vehicles.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies pertaining to maintenance and repairs. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Training and Development: Develop training programs for service center staff to enhance their technical skills and knowledge of maintenance best practices. Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure the team is equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage the service center budget, including expenses related to maintenance, repairs, and inventory management. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising safety or quality.
- Performance Monitoring: Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of maintenance programs and the overall performance of the service center. Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and improve the reliability and performance of our fleet. Stay informed about advancements in maintenance technology and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in a maintenance-focused role within the transportation or automotive industry, with a strong understanding of preventative and reactionary maintenance practices.
- Experience with RTA Fleet Management Software
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed to address maintenance emergencies.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
