About the Job
The Service Manager works closely with the Branch Manager to build a profitable branch location and leads their team of service and field technicians providing excellent customer service, maintenance, and repair to our client's equipment. The Service Manager has a direct hand in hiring, developing, and training their team of technicians. They are accountable for the department's overall budget and profit and loss.
Essential Functions
- Management & supervision of Service Department personnel
- Communicate with customers to schedule and dispatch field service technicians
- Supervise the opening and closing of work orders for control of each shop and field job
- Maintain and monitor detailed records of time and performance of Service employees
- Monitor and schedule preventative maintenance of rental equipment
- Order and maintain inventory of shop tools and supplies
- Recruit, interview and hire qualified service department personnel
- Act as site safety supervisor in conjunction with Branch Manager
- Monitor service technician training and schedule on and off-site training as required
- Ensure that all customer satisfaction needs are met in accordance with company policy
- Stay current on product improvement programs from manufacturers
- Report shop goals, objectives and achievements to District Service Manager
- Track department profitability and technician efficiency
- Ensure technicians operating according to safety policies and procedures

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- 2-year certificate from technical school or 5 years of related service management experience in heavy equipment industry
- PC proficiency required, particularly in MS Office applications
- Extensive Equipment (OEM product) and maintenance knowledge
- Valid Driver's License
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.

- Environment is consistent with that of heavy equipment outdoor yard and repair shop
- Service office setting Travel Required
- Occasional field location visits and overnight stays
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and phone3Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Must be physically able to bend, squat, crouch, and reach
