Company Overview:
Autopia Bloomington is a well-established and reputable auto repair shop under new ownership as of 03-2022 that is local and family owned. We have a 6000 sqft shop with eight hoists (seven 2 post and one drive on). We currently have three A level technicians, a shop helper and a service advisor. As part of our continuous growth, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Service Manager to run and lead our service department.
Position Overview:
As the Service Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing and contributing to the daily operations of our service department. You will be responsible for opening and closing the store daily, greeting customers, writing repair orders, managing a team of skilled technicians, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maximizing the efficiency and profitability of the service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive service management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch service.

- Clean 6000 sqft, 8 Bay shop. 7 two posts and 1 drive on.
- 50 8ft light fixtures with 2 bulbs each, recently updated to LEDs.
- Hunter tire changer and balancer.
- Ravignolia alignment machine bought 04/24.
- New R134 and R1234YF Robinair machines 01/24.
- Shop owned SnapOn Solus and iScan3. Both up to date.
- Every tech station has its own computer with two monitors.
- Subscriptions to everything needed at every station.
- Full uniform service provided by Cintas.
- Large customer parking lot and overflow lot in the back.
- Not afraid to buy tools as needed. Many are new and added in the last 2 years.
- Current shop staff, 3 senior level A technicians at this time and 1 shop helper for trash, oil drains etc.
More about the Store:
- Small owner operated business that currently is only at this location.
- All full time employees are eligible for all benefits including 401k with a match, vacation time and paid holidays.
- Busy shop under new ownership as of 03/22 and growing.
- Open Monday through Friday between 7am and 5pm (4 on Fridays). Full time position with an expectation of availability from open to close unless otherwise staffed.
- No night, no weekends.
- Front counter positions consists of a Service Manager (now hiring for this position) and a Service Advisor. (Owner available to help as needed).
- All cars get a hand wash post repairs by the shop helper.
- We have 5 loaner cars for customers to help streamline repairs through the shop.
- Daily complimentary shuttle service for customers.
- We are currently an ATI (Automotive Training Institute) shop which offers structure and training for everyone.
- We have a fun, laid back environment but we respect hard work.
- The shop has been here since 1971 and became "Autopia" in 2001. We work on all makes and models at this time.
- Great local reputation with a 4.8 Google rating on 170+ reviews.
Current shop metrics:
- Gross sales 2023 $1,100,000. 2024 is on track for the same.
- Average hours per ticket 4.
- Average ARO YTD $863.
- Average weekly car count 25.
- 100% DVI completion.

Owners goals that you will help achieve:
I am looking for someone motivated and capable to grow the shop production, efficiency and output while maintaining current margins. This will require an increase of staffing to support this growth. There is a lot of room to grown in the current location and I need someone to help me get there. My long term goals do include the possibility of multiple locations.

Requirements to qualify for the position include:
- Proven experience as a Service Manager preferably in an auto repair shop environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems and repairs.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Financial acumen and budget management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Legal driver's license - Must have an active and valid drivers license allowing operation of company and customer vehicles.
- Ability to drive a manual transmission or willing to learn quick.
- Full time attendance - Must be available during normal shop hours of operation to work scheduled hours.
- Reliable transportation - Must have a means or ability to get to and from work daily.
- Ability to operate a computer and tablet - Must be able to use modern software and internet sites including the primary shop software, email, parts portals etc.
- Ability to talk - Must be able to talk with customers and staff.
- Ability to speak English as a first language - Must be able to speak English with customers, staff and vendors.
Basic requirements inside of the position:
- Ability to show up for work sober - Must be able to show up on time and maintain an entire working day without the use of drugs or alcohol.
- Ability to move about the shop - Must be capable of physically walking around the shop and lot.
- Ability to stand - Must be physically capable of standing as needed to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift and push - Must be able to lift and push objects like parts, shop supplies, vendor items and tools.
- Good hygiene - Must be clean and presentable to customers and other staff.
- Ability to read - Must be able to read customer notes, emails, co-worker notes and messages.
- Ability to write & type - Must be able to write and or type legibly.
- proper attire - Must wear clean and presentable attire including shoes, pants and shirt at all times.
- Safety equipment - Must be willing and able to wear safety equipment as needed or required.
Other Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Led, mentored, and motivated a team of automotive technicians and service writers to achieve high levels of productivity and efficiency.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, and expectations, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
Customer Service:
- Maintain a customer-focused approach, ensuring that every customer receives a positive and satisfying experience.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Operations Management:
- Opening and closing of the store daily.
- Oversee and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow management, and quality control.
- Implement and maintain efficient processes to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Create, edit and present estimates and repair orders.
Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage the service department's goals, metrics and budget, including gross profit margins, expenses, inventory, and revenue.
- Implement strategies to increase service department profitability.
Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of service and repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement
Vendor and Inventory Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of parts and minimize excess inventory.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that the service department complies with all safety regulations and industry standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure working environment.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
ABOUT THE $:
Position comes with a base salary and bonus structure that is determined by both gross sales and gross margin. There is no limit to this however higher goals will require growth to achieve.
