About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Service Drop Technician to be an important part of our team. The Lead Service Drop Technician will be responsible for maintenance, specific issues, routine checks, or installation of telecom infrastructure (fiber, conduit, related equipment) at customer premises. This opportunity sits within Cityside Fiber’s Field Operations Department. The Field Operations Department is responsible for installation and maintenance of fiber- based internet services. The objective of this position is to meet quality and safety standards of installations. To be successful in this role you will have strong interpersonal skills, be customer-focused, and be collaborative. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company’s objectives. To be successful you will have superior communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
- Perform the physical installation and maintenance of buried fiber, conduit and related equipment from the curb to the customers’ residence.
- Perform splicing in accordance with company procedures and industry standards
- Perform placement of aerial fiber optic cable on customer premises.
- Performs installations and replacements of aerial and underground fiber drop cable.
- Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
- Lead a drop crew.
- Trenching and preparing area for telecom infrastructure installation.
- Restoring soft landscaping following telecon infrastructure installation.
- Report to the Field Operations Manager.
- Lead when needed and work with team members.
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures when installing fiber, conduit and related equipment.
- Ensure that all installations meet quality standards and take corrective action as needed.
- Communicate with customers to schedule installations, answer questions and provide updates on the status of their installation.
- Follow company procedures.
- Document all installation and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
Qualifications
- High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
- High school degree or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience at an internet service provider or contractor performing telecom infrastructure installation tasks, including advanced skills in splicing.
- Proven experience serving as a lead for drop crews and mentoring junior drop technicians.
- Proficient understanding of utility markings.
- Proven understanding and ability to read and interpret fiber network design maps, splice plans, and MOPs.
- Familiarity with standard safety protocols and procedures, and a commitment to working safely in the field.
- Experience communicating to and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Proven history of excellent customer service and ability to build relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty, and strong work ethic.
- Proven history of working in a fast-paced environment unsupervised.
- Strong knowledge of the fiber internet market and technology trends.
- Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed.
- Able to lift 70 pounds, move heavy equipment, dig trenches, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Understanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts.
- Valid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
Location
Our current field office is located in Irvine. Our local yard is in Tustin, CA. You will be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.
Compensation
Starting pay rate at $25 per hour (actual starting rate may vary based on candidate’s qualifications, skills, and years of experience).
+$200 Work Boot Stipend (Received Annually)
+$40 Cell Phone Stipend (Received Monthly)
