Job Overview Server
The purpose of this position is to retain our guests by ensuring they have a great experience when dining at Georgia Blue. Georgia Blue servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in an efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed. You must be able to relate to guests' and establish relationships while maintaining an outgoing and friendly personality.
General Responsibilities
- Prepare tables; lay out silverware, make sure the condiments are refilled, perform all other preparation tasks.
- Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations. Know if the kitchen staff is running out of any items...etc.
- Present menus; suggest dishes, assist in drink selection, inform guests' about food preparation details, communicate specific customer needs to the cooks.
- Must have basic knowledge of common food allergies; know how and what to recommend to these guests.
- Maintain proper dining experience by displaying teamwork, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses and always assisting with side work.
- Learn your guests' names, occupations, and favorite drinks. This will make Georgia Blue a special place for them and they will continue to return.
- Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
- Obtain revenues, issue receipts, accept payments and return change.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Fill in for absent staff as needed.
- Assist with special events as needed.
- Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
- Understand and communicate products available at the restaurant.
- Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills.
- Must take and pass the menu test by the end of training. Employees have two opportunities to take and pass the menu tests. Failure to do so may result in termination.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience:
- Previous serving experience strongly preferred.
- Outgoing personality, positive attitude, and strong oral communication skills.
- Positive interpersonal skills required.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures, and function.
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.

Discretion / Independent Judgment
This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances. As a Georgia Blue server you will be expected to work with guests and visitors to ensure satisfaction. A Georgia Blue server will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving guest challenges and involve a manager only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.

Appearance/Uniform Standard
- Black long sleeve button-down shirt with a solid bright-colored tie (sleeves may be rolled) tucked in with a black belt, black non-denim pants/slacks (without holes or frayed edges), server apron, black crew socks, and closed-toed black slip-resistant shoes.
- Any undershirt must be short-sleeved and white
- No facial piercings
- Men must keep facial hair well groomed
- All hair long enough to touch the shoulder must be pulled back and restrained
