About the Job
Summary: The Timber at Holly Branch is a boutique hotel in Gatlinburg, TN. The Server will be responsible for taking care of the guests, answering questions, and most importantly ensuring an unforgettable experience. This role is also responsible for preparation beforehand, work during the service shift, cleaning for a fresh start the next day, and other assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for greeting, seating, taking orders, serving guests and clearing food and
beverages with the ultimate goal of providing an exceptional guest experience and
satisfaction.
The Daily Responsibilities of a Server are as follows:
• Prepare dining area and tables for service with special attention to sanitation and order.
• Greet guests upon entering the restaurant and seat the party at an appropriately sized
table.
• Present menus and make suggestions based on guest preferences, upsell when
appropriate.
• Take orders, serve and clear food/drinks.
• Clean and reset tables and dining area upon guest departure.
• Ensure tables and dining area are clean and tidy at all times.
• Deliver checks and collect payments.
• Resolve complaints or problems with a positive attitude, escalate to management when
necessary.
• Complete daily opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Collaborate and communicate with management and all service and kitchen team
members.
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service
guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful
performance of the position:
• Monitor and adhere to the rules and regulations established by the TABC; includes
monitoring of guest consumption and knowledge of procedures for handling intoxicated
guests.
• Thorough knowledge of and correct application of all hotel policies, procedures, and
practices.
• Responsible for maintaining hotel standards of excellence relating to attitude, customer
service, employee relations, and job performance.
• Responsible for guest relations including guest's name and product preferences.
• Attendance and involvement at all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills & Ability
• Working knowledge of food offerings with the ability to make recommendations and
to identify potential allergens
• Working knowledge of spirits, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages
• Working knowledge of POS system
• Proper handling of cash and receipts - collection of money generated as revenue and
the proper deposit made at the end of each shift. Proper recordkeeping on guest
checks and receipts
• Understanding of classes of alcohol, different glasses, brand names and garnishes
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with
customers, the public and team members.
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
• Interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of two years of experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
Must be at least 18 to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to serve alcoholic beverages.
Valid ABC permit
Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, twist, kneel, lift, push, and pull items weighing 55lbs. Must be able to stand and continuously move throughout the workday. Must be willing to work outdoors and be comfortable in varying weather.
