About the Job
The EMG HW Platform Team at Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Sensor Research Engineer to develop and execute on an EMG-centric sensor technology research agenda that will improve input efficacy and user experience. This work will include traditional sensors, new & novel sensors and multi-modal sensor data fusion. This person will work closely with cross functional teams to understand HW dependencies, develop algorithms, architect sensitive data infrastructure, evaluate novel biosensor technologies, and conduct studies and associated reviews in service of product needs.

Sensor Research Engineer Responsibilities:
- Help develop and execute research & NTI roadmap and strategy in close coordination with product, research, and XFN teams
- Architect sensing solutions, specs, and algorithmic solutions for EMG in collaboration with the product and research teams
- Help develop a fundamental understanding on the causal relationships between HW and Science KPIs
- Design and define research plans, methods, and protocol that deliver on technical roadmap strategy from feasibility to NTI
- Drive the improvement and development of model agnostic EMG KPIs and eventual transfer functions to science KPIs & models
- Develop and consult on study documentation to enable protocol compliance and human subject safety
- Drive a deep understanding via root cause analysis and first principles assessment of various EMG failure modes at the N=1 human
- Understand data collection tools and third-party devices to ensure data validity
- Develop and guide novel computational data analytics to verify and validate sensing methodologies
- Maintain the highest of research standards to ensure validity and reproducibility of results
- Create ad-hoc demos demonstrating low fidelity capability of new HW leveraging existing ML frameworks
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of post-doc research experience
- Experience in traditional statistical approaches, novel machine learning techniques, and management of novel, unstructured datasets
- Experience defining, developing and leading large programs in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Experience with algorithms for biosignal feature extraction
- Experience in computational data analytics
- Experience with peer-reviewed publications in biosensor outcomes research
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience investigating the electrochemical interface of biopotential electrodes
- Experience in medical device technologies or related fields
- Experience in clinical settings
- Experience with cross-domain and cross-culture collaboration
