This North American industry leader has an immediate 3+ month contract opportunity (with chance for long-term extension) in Irving, TX for a Senior UX Designer. This position requires a problem solver with a strong background in UX research and early concept work to support the company in discovering new opportunities in various markets. This position requires:
· Proven ability to work closely with Product Managers, distill new product ideas, and use UX research methodologies to Client and validate if those ideas fulfill real needs and market opportunities.
· Ability to gain insights by utilizing methods such as stakeholder interviews, quantitative surveys, contextual inquiries, published industry trend reports, accurate interpretation of usability tests, etc.
· Ability to quickly create personas, journey maps, user task flows, testing scenarios, and prototypes in order to validate requirements under very tight deadlines.
· Experience working with 3rd party services to support moderated and unmoderated testing, recruiting, surveys, etc.
· Strong personality with the ability to lead workshops for the purpose of uncovering hidden requirements, opportunities and challenges.
· Strong analytical skills to accurate interpret findings, prepare reports, and present those finding to executive stakeholders.
· 5+ years' experience using demonstrable user experience design processes in a business setting (requirements gathering through delivery of testable prototypes).
· Portfolio highlighting their design skills when creating web-based and mobile applications as opposed to marketing projects.
· Outstanding ability to identify and communicate user goals and tasks.
· Proven skills creating professional user experience deliverables (flow charts, visual layouts, rapid prototypes).
· Understanding of the importance of designing with reusable components, and the ability to create components to be included in the team's Design Library.
· Highly skilled in User Interface (UI) design, including the creation of all production-ready assets and specifications for development.
· Ability to effectively communicate technical requirements of the design to the development team.
· Solid understanding of agile workflows.
· Understanding and eagerness to design for new interaction modes such as voice, touch, steering-switch commands, and multi-modal interfaces.
· Desire/ability to quickly learn new tools and new testing methodologies.
· Portfolio examples of a single application that was released on both iOS and Android platforms, and the ability to explain the similarities and distinctions within each design.
· Experience creating "white label” designs which can be quickly adapted for multiple brands.
· Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and other current technologies/frameworks used during presentation layer coding;
· Ability to create high-fidelity clickable prototypes.
· Comfortable presenting work to peers, teams, and groups that may include executives.
· Ability to accept and give feedback on designs, and a willingness to adapt designs in progress to new requirements and constraints as they are discovered.
· Ability to provide accurately and timely reports on the status of assigned projects to the UX Director, and escalate potential issues that could impact delivery schedules
· Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact and work with staff at all levels.
· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
· Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
· Knowledge of at least one user flow charting/planning tool (OmniGraffle, Visio, etc.)
· Expert knowledge of at least one visual design tool (Sketch, Illustrator, etc.)
· Expert knowledge of at least one user experience prototyping tool (Invision, Adobe XD, Proto.io, Framer, etc.)
· Knowledge of the specific distinctions between iOS and Android UX design
· Knowledge of Agile processes and related project management tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
· Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and common presentation layer frameworks
· Comfortable editing or writing non-production level presentation layer code as necessary to enhance the performance and accuracy of work created in prototyping tools.
· Basic knowledge of new voice prototyping tools (Storyline, Say Spring, etc.)
This UX Designer will provide concepts, designs, prototypes, and create specifications for screen, voice, and multi-modal interfaces for digital applications including web, mobile and in-vehicle devices. Will work with the project team to conceptualize, design, and execute the UX of these applications. Will integrate knowledge of user task flows, information design, browsers and device capabilities/constraints in order to inform this work. Will work on projects from concept through production, including discovery and research, visual design, prototyping, testing/validation, and asset creation while providing ongoing support throughout the design/development process.
Responsibilities include:
· Providing product design and execution toward development of digital applications including web, mobile, and in-vehicle head-units.
· Acting as UX Subject Matter Expert on assigned projects, effectively collaborating with product management, business analysts, and development team during all stages of the project.
· Identifying problems and recommends feasible solutions to fulfill identified user goals.
· Creating application prototypes at all levels of fidelity which are suitable for demonstrations and user testing.
· Creating all necessary UI assets necessary for the development of the project.
· Accurately scoring assigned user stories and consistently meets deliverable schedules.
· Maintaining knowledge of industry-wide changes in design philosophy and new tools/ technologies used for application design.
· Quickly adapting to technology changes, displaying an eagerness to learn new technologies and tools.
