And serves as a lead worker providing direction, mentorship, training, and oversite to others.

Position Summary
The Senior Unemployment Claims Specialist is a human resource professional that manages and performs the advanced unemployment benefit claim work on behalf of our clients, and our companies, in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. And serves as a lead worker providing direction, mentorship, training, and oversite to others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Claims Management: reviewing, analyzing, and processing unemployment benefit claims. Verifying and interpreting information collected through various methods to determine and advise clients on the best course of action.
- Client hearing preparation and attendance, where permitted by law.
- File written appeals to state agency within predetermined timeframe.
- Benefit Charge analysis: monitor and track assessed claim charges, handle protests, track credits and resolutions.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with employer, and various regulatory and state agencies.
- Legal Compliance: stay up to date on local, state, and federal law changes.
- Work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
- Serve as a lead worker providing direction to others or to oversee the work of others. Responsible for ensuring subordinates complete case load, efficiently, accurately, and timely. Providing feedback and guidance as needed.
- Participate in the development of the department through the creation of policies, and procedures to improve department workflow and the claims process.
- A strong drive to deliver exceptional client support to both external and internal customers.
- Strong organizational skills, diligence, and follow-through.
- Clear and effective communication. Including the ability to provide constructive feedback to junior team members in a respectful and positive manner.
- Advanced knowledge of unemployment benefit claims terminology, methods, and procedures. Including state compliance and regulatory laws.
- Advanced knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office applications.
- Negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work, follow policies and procedures and complete tasks while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate unemployment insurance claims, to interpret policies and procedures, to prepare reports, and to communicate effectively in English, in writing and orally.
- Treat sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
- 5+ years of unemployment claims experience.
- Relevant HR or Operational work experience.
- Previous experience implementing new processes highly desired.
