Are you a technical writer who is passionate about the Internet of Things (IoT) and IoT devices? Do you want to work with an AWS service that builds solutions involving Internet-connected devices, embedded micro-controllers, smart appliances, and the AWS Cloud? The Technical Content Experience (TCX) group, also known as AWS Documentation, is looking for a technical writer to support AWS IoT services.

Key job responsibilities
- Author and deliver high-quality conceptual, procedural, and API documentation
- Develop, negotiate, and drive documentation plans in alignment with product strategy
- Gather and analyze customer engagement data to improve content performance
- Work with other writers to improve how we write
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve process efficiency
A day in the life
An AWS IoT technical writer works on a team with other writers and contributes to the priorities of the AWS IoT service.
You'll focus heavily on the doc lifecycle, creating documentation content plans, writing documentation, working within AWS services to gain domain expertise, and addressing customer feedback. In addition, you will spend time working with designers and product managers on early product and feature designs to improve the customer experience.

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Documentation team writes and provides support for a diverse technical audience, including developers, DevOps professionals, IT professionals, and technical program managers.
We innovate, research, learn, and experiment on behalf of our customers. We collaborate with product managers to understand our customers' needs. We partner with software developers to learn how AWS services function, and influence product design and the customer experience.

The AWS Utility Computing (UC) team provides product innovations. We provide foundational services, such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), and release new product innovations. Our documentation sets AWS services and features apart in the industry. The UC organization develops and manages Compute, Database, Storage, the Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Application documentation in AWS.
Basic Qualifications
- Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience, such as Software Engineers, System Administrators, or IT professionals
- Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with IoT devices or creating content around IoT topics
- Experience working with XML, markdown, or HTML
- Familiarity with using and following a style guide
- Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
- Experience working directly with teams of software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
