About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our team supporting our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client.
This position is 100% remote.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the design and modification of business systems or IT systems.
- Interact with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to understand gather, document, and analyze business needs and technical requirements.
- Document the functional and, sometimes, the technical design of the system
- Review and create system documentation and user manuals
- Serve as liaison for the Project Manager/Technical Lead, Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Agile or Kanban team to build, test, integrate and deploy cyber audit tools
- Serve as point of contact for defining business and technical requirements
- Support the development of technical architectures, tools and processes that support the IRS cybersecurity environment
- Support the project manager/technical lead in coordinating work between project business staff and technical staff. - Facilitate the gathering, documenting, and analysis of business needs and technical requirements, and translate to system design and requirements that are consistent with frameworks and standards.
- Facilitate and implement efforts for ensuring systems are compliant with government security policies and guidelines, e.g., configuration settings management, DISA STIGs, checklist adjudication
- Gain a detailed understanding of the components of IRS applications and translating that knowledge into the requirements for system updates and processes
- Design, document, and produce reports to summarize and report project activities and accomplishments
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to application efficiency and reliability
- Support the development of briefings and project schedules
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience supporting IRS Cybersecurity projects.
- Experience in documentation and report preparation
- Experience leading a project team
- Experience preparing for, leading and independently facilitating meetings.
- Experience preparing, tailoring, and presenting briefings to various levels of management and executives
- Experience in soliciting and documenting requirements, technical writing, and document preparation
- Experience working under Agile development methodologies and using the RTC for monitoring work within a team
- Self-starter that does not require extensive guidance
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proactive communication skills with multi-site-located team
- Demonstrated problem-solving and structured analysis skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated success in client support
Additional Requirements as per Contract:
- Candidates must have held an active IRS MBI clearance within the last 2 years to qualify
- Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
