PDF Solutions is seeking a Tax Senior Manager that will play a key role in the Corporate Finance Department and will be responsible for managing tax provisioning and compliance processes which include tax planning, coordination, and completion of wide range of tax areas covering corporate income tax, state and local taxes and international taxes. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated and a self-driven team player with strong communication, detail-oriented, organized, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and have an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. This position will be a member of the Finance Team in Santa Clara, CA. This role will report directly to the Global Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities:Corporate Income Taxes
- Lead corporate tax planning strategies to identify opportunities for tax savings, maximize tax benefits, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Lead coordination with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure annual and quarterly income tax provisions are completed accurately and timely. Note: this role may also require preparation of tax supports for the external tax advisors.
- Review income tax provision calculations including tax payable, deferred taxes, R&D credits and other tax credits, uncertain tax positions, income tax returns; among others;
- Anticipate potential issues in the tax provision process and propose resolutions.
- Ensure income tax bills are paid on time;
- Ensure SOX 404 controls on income tax process are performed effectively and Form 10-Q and Form 10-K disclosures are accurate.
International Taxes
- Review the quarterly and annual US international calculations, foreign payables reconciliations and tax account roll forwards, payments, refunds;
- Coordinate and review of source country income tax filings and transfer pricing reports prepared by external consultants;
- Lead application of exemption for foreign withholding taxes, where applicable;
- Preparation/Review of annual Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) and filing process;
- Lead Canada Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives claim process.
State and Local Taxes, Sales & Use Tax, Other
- Monitor tax legislation and changes in tax laws and tax accounting standards across the North America, Europe, and Asia and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Research complex tax issues impacting the business, review and analyze the income tax implications of any new tax legislations. Prepare tax memorandums and support for the tax position and interpretation;
- Review draft of customer contracts for terms and conditions related to taxes;
- Coordinate preparation and review of sales and use tax returns;
- Ensure state and local taxes compliance;
- Coordinate preparation and review of property taxes and ensure timely payments.
- Lead and coordinate to ensure smooth completion of the various audits (by the states, and income tax review/audit by external auditors);
- Assist with other tax projects and provide ad hoc support related to tax projects and initiatives, as needed.
Treasury
- Plan and oversee global investments strategies to ensure optimization of interest income and minimize idle cash.
- Coordinate with Finance Advisors and enhance banking relationships.
- Define reporting needs for treasury-related functions and design/execute improvements, where needed.
- Assist with other treasury projects and provide ad hoc support related to treasury projects and initiatives, as needed.
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation required; CPA certification or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive tax experience with public accounting and industry (public companies), with 5+ years of managerial experience;
- Solid Experience with ASC740 required and experience with financial statements under US GAAP, and IFRS. Broad knowledge of taxes, tax treaties, and related laws.
- Experience in Treasury functions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and all levels of management.
- Must be well-organized, hands-on, detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Excel required;
- NetSuite experience required.
