Job Details
A typical day as a Real Estate Tax Manager/Senior Manager might include the following:
Provides tax advisory services for clients in the real estate industry, including technical guidance, consulting and compliance services.
Acts as a firmwide resource who coordinates with internal stakeholders and clients on all phases of tax engagements, with a concentrated focus on complex issues related to real estate taxation.
Monitors and analyzes new legislative, regulatory, and administrative real estate tax developments.
Assists in the management and delivery of client projects, including review and analysis of client data, and preparation of required calculations, supporting documents and IRS filings.
Contributes to internal and external thought leadership pieces, technical training, and webinars.
Develops business by expanding existing relationships with clients, maintaining personal networks and participating in business and professional organizations.
Ensures timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
Maintains compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.
Who You Are
You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required; Master’s in Tax or J.D. with LL.M. preferred.
You have a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Enrolled Agent (EA) license, or J.D.
You have 7+ years of tax experience with an emphasis in the real estate industry, including providing technical research and advisory services.
You have experience providing tax advisory services to real estate owners, developers, and investors including REITS, real estate funds, and privately held real estate entities.
You have extensive experience dealing with real estate transactions, like-kind exchanges, involuntary conversions, FIRPTA, qualified opportunity zones, and other complex tax issues relating to the real estate industry.
You have excellent communication, public speaking, research and writing skills with ability to articulate complex tax issues.
You can work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects.
You can establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
You are proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and using various software packages.
