Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process & innovation functions to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and Customs functions. There are four major functions within the Tax and Customs Department. 1) Tax Reporting and Transfer Pricing 2) Customs, Tax Process & Innovation, 3) Corporate Tax Planning & Controversies, Indirect Tax & Global Business Initiatives 4) Tax & Customs Controllership, Policy and Benefits Taxation.
We are hiring for a **Senior Tax Manager, Indirect Tax** to assist us in this very important work.
**Responsibilities**
+ Analyze tax metrics to identify and evaluate reporting fluctuations.
+ Monitor indirect tax registrations and business license requirements.
+ Develop, improve, and streamline processes and procedures for indirect tax compliance.
+ Analyze business and legislative rules impacting tax compliance.
+ Evaluate, inform, and document tax requirements related to tax law changes.
+ Analyze tax General Ledger (GL), reconciliations, and tax data to ensure integrity and accuracy of tax reporting.
+ Provide data analysis and audit support related to internal and external compliance inquiries.
+ Partner with stakeholders to initiate, review, and approve monthly compliance reporting.
+ Partnering with the audit team to evaluate audit findings for improvements in tax reporting.
+ Partner with tax technology team to implement improvements related to process, technology, and reporting analytics.
**Qualifications**
**Required qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 6+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience
+ OR Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 5+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience
+ OR equivalent experience.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
+ Advanced knowledge of Excel.
+ Experience working with large data sets, data analytic skills and data blending tools (experience with SQL or Alteryx is a plus).
+ Business Analysis, analytics & reporting - Familiarity with the data visualization tools, such as Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
+ Relevant experience and knowledge of SAP, Vertex, and other tax/billing systems is a plus.
+ Experience with SharePoint and MSFT Power platform is a plus.
+ The ability to conceptualize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or similar certification.
Tax IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
