Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our client’s tax department. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in tax compliance and preparation within the following focus:
- Sales & Use Tax Compliance:
Manage and ensure accurate filing of sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions. Review taxability of transactions, research state and local tax laws, and assist in sales tax audits. - 1120 Tax Returns:
Prepare and file accurate 1120 corporate income tax returns (federal and state) for C-corporations, including gathering necessary documentation, performing reconciliations, and ensuring full compliance with tax laws and regulations. - Property Tax Compliance:
Assist in the preparation and filing of property tax returns for the organization’s fixed assets and real property. Ensure proper valuation and assessment, and review the property tax billings to ensure they are accurate and timely. - Unclaimed Property Tax Filings:
Manage and oversee the unclaimed property reporting process for the organization. Coordinate with various departments to identify dormant accounts and file required reports with state agencies. - Corporate Income Tax:
Assist in the preparation of corporate income tax returns (federal and state), including researching tax issues, preparing schedules, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. - Tax Audits & Research:
Assist with tax audits by preparing documentation and providing necessary support to external tax authorities. Research and analyze tax issues, ensuring that tax positions are supported and compliant with applicable laws. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams (Finance, Accounting, Legal, etc.) to ensure all tax filings are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. Advise on the tax implications of business transactions and decisions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or EA designation is a plus but not a requirement of the position
- 3-7 years of domestic tax experience
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws, with specific experience in corporate income tax compliance and planning.
- Proven ability to research complex tax issues and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Experience with tax audits and interaction with tax authorities.

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
