Job Summary
Our client, a leading firm in the accounting industry, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to engage in diverse tax responsibilities, provide leadership to the tax team, and foster strong client relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review and prepare federal and multi-state tax returns, including for businesses, partnerships, individuals, not-for-profit organizations, and trusts, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Review and prepare annual tax provisions and perform tax planning calculations for estimates and extensions.
- Conduct research on complex tax matters, summarize findings, and propose practical resolutions.
- Monitor and communicate legislative and regulatory tax law developments.
- Supervise and train members of the tax team, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Develop and sustain strong client relationships through effective communication and responsiveness.
- Address client inquiries and resolve issues with taxing authorities.
- Perform other accounting and tax duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and a proactive approach to serving a growing client base. Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related major (required).
- Certified Public Accountant license (required).
- A minimum of six years of prior experience in public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency with the following software is preferred:
- QuickBooks Desktop and Online
- Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular)
- CCH ProSystem FX or Axcess Tax
- Caseware
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and logical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including effective presentation and client-focused responsiveness.
