Description
Responsible for increasingly complex compliance and financial reporting assignments and projects, analysis and support of tax positions through audit and controversy work, identification of process improvement ideas, active participation in department planning initiatives and deliverables, and regular interaction with Corporate Taxation management.
Responsibilities
- Ensures timely and accurate filing of all tax compliance assignments and/or review of simple tax compliance projects, with guidance for complex projects or calculations. Recommends and implements processes that improve the efficiency and accuracy of compliance related activities. Ensure complete and accurate workpaper documentation and referencing.
- Independently conducts assigned tax-related and income tax accounting research. Drafts memoranda with supporting conclusions supported by relevant research findings. Supports and documents the business case for incorporating tax-planning strategies into business objectives.
- Prepares, supports, and processes moderate to complex financial data using various accounting systems in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. Prepares moderate to complex tax-related financial statement accounting entries and disclosures. Detail reviews simple tax-related financial statement calculations, entries and disclosures. Presents findings to Supervisor/Manager.
- Works within Corporate Taxation and with SBUs and other Corporate Financial departments, as appropriate, to ensure that tax-related financial statement disclosures are accurate and timely.
- Responsible for assisting with tax controversies, by independently preparing responses to information requests and analyzing for future controversy issues based on responses provided. Also responsible for evaluating the impact of any proposed adjustments received on the Company`s prior, current and future compliance process.
- Under supervision, assists with implementation of timely, cost-effective tax planning strategies designed to create value and enhance the Company`s worldwide tax position. Performs research and technical analysis as requested to support these strategies.

- Actively participates in Department or Company initiatives or ad hoc projects. With limited guidance, manages projects of moderate complexity by identifying key deliverables, project tasks, managing to due dates, and identifying issues. Trains staff team members on processes and procedures. Keeps manager informed of status and issues as appropriate. Works seamlessly with Finance and business personnel. Trains new Tax Accountants, co-ops and temporary help on tax software, processes and tax technical skills. Reviews work of new Tax Accountants and co-ops, providing feedback on performance.
Note: You will be required to go into the office twice a week if you reside within 50 miles of radius of our Boston, MA and Seattle, WA office. Please note this policy is subject to change.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business (or BS degree and equivalent tax or accounting experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience in Taxation required
- Intermediate knowledge of corporate taxation and financial statement analysis, strong written and oral communication skills also required
