Responsibilities:
As a Senior Tax Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing and reviewing federal and state corporate, individual, and partnership returns, including S Corp.
2. Managing state and local tax compliance and planning, and researching tax laws and regulations.
3. Assisting with tax audits and tax returns, ensuring the accuracy of each document.
4. Developing tax strategies to assist the company in being financially efficient and compliant with laws.
5. Staying updated with industry trends and current tax practices to ensure the company's compliance.
6. Collaborating with the accounting team to accurately forecast tax predictions.
7. Preparing tax reports and presenting them to management, providing recommendations when necessary.
8. Working closely with the oil and gas department, managing tax-related matters.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Tax Accountant position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification is highly preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on state and local tax, tax planning, federal & state tax, and tax preparation.
3. Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is a significant plus.
4. Extensive knowledge of S Corp taxation.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
6. Strong knowledge of tax software and databases, and proficiency in MS Office.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax information in a clear, concise manner.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy.
9. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
10. High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
