Responsibilities:
- ASC 740 Tax Provision: assist with the Quarterly and Annual Tax Provision process, including: data collection (via accounting system and other teams), maintenance of calculations/reports in OneSource Tax Provision software, and preparation of relevant calculations/disclosures/footnotes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Federal & State Income Tax: assist in the review of Federal & State Income Tax Returns, as well as managing the data/information flow to outside consultants to meet relevant filing deadlines, and preparation/review of Estimated & Extension Tax Payments.
- Other Taxes – Sales & Use, Property, etc.: manage the compliance process associated with Other Taxes applicable to the business, including data collection, timely return filing, and the providing guidance to other teams on applicability of exemption opportunities.
- Tax Audit/Notices: assist with the successful resolution of any Tax Audits or Tax Notices the company receives, including researching identified issues and interfacing or coordinating with Tax Authority Agents to resolve disputes efficiently & effectively.
- Special Project Collaboration: collaborate with other teams internally, e.g. finance, legal, operations, and internal audit/compliance, as well as outside consultants, on special projects; such as: M&A Transactions, Stock Compensation, Legal Entity Restructuring/Streamlining, Method Changes, Tax Credits & Incentives, Software Implementations, and many more.
- Process Improvement & Documentation: proactively assess and improve tax operation processes & tools to enhance efficiency/accuracy. Maintain Tax Compliance calendar and detailed documentation of relevant Tax Accounts in the General Ledger, as well as items that support tax calculations or positions taken for reporting purposes.
- Miscellaneous: interface with other teams to provide guidance on various accounting/transaction items as they relate to taxes, research relevant GAAP and Tax Law changes/rules, ensure completeness and organization of tax document library.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Accounting or related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in Business Tax Compliance & Reporting.
- Strong knowledge of tax processes/rules for Federal (IRC) & State Compliance, as well as Tax Provision Reporting guidance under ASC 740.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Proficiency in OneSource Tax Provision Software, and adept in utilizing other Accounting Software and Financial Systems.
- Excellent Analytical and Problem-Solving skills.
- Strong Attention to Detail and Accuracy.
- Effective Communication and Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, work as part of a team or independently with general direction/guidance and adapt to a growing company environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to manage staff, organize client workpapers, and develop processes enhancing engagement/project timelines.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Accounting/Tax or MBA.
- CPA Certification.
- Experience in Public Accounting with a Big 4 firm or other large Accounting firm, or experience working in a Corporate Tax Department.
- Industry Experience a plus: GovCon, Aerospace, Defense, Tech.
- Experience with ERP software/systems.
