Platinum Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer with a proven track record in leading information technology programs within the Air Force environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customer intimacy, understanding the unique needs and challenges of Air Force stakeholders, and the ability to translate those into effective IT solutions.
This position is based in Scott AFB with occasional travel to Air Force bases and other locations as required.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain complex networking infrastructure.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing security infrastructure to identify gaps and vulnerabilities
- Design end-to-end security solutions across on-premise and cloud-based environments that align with business goals and compliance requirements
- Analyze requirements and business objectives to develop tailored integration strategies
- Document technical specifications and implementation plans
- Manage and optimize systems performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of security measures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and network issues.
- Implement routine maintenance procedures to perform application updates, patches, and STIG compliance to ensure ongoing secure environment
- Create, update, and maintain Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) documentation based on program PPSM input
- Update PPSM registry for systems authorized by the TRANSCOM Authorizing Official (AO)
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in networking and security.
Requirements:
- Experience configuring and deploying security applications, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and IdAM solutions
- Experience deploying, maintaining, patching security scanning tools such as Fortify, Nessus, and log monitoring such as Splunk
- Experience integrating security solutions with existing infrastructure and applications, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation
- Customization of security settings and policies to meet specific business needs and regulatory requirements
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies.
- Hands-on experience with security applications such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- A minimum of Information Assurance Technician (IAT) certification Level II as defined in DoDD 8140.01
