What You’ll Do as a Senior Systems Engineer
Your role will encompass the entire system design lifecycle, from concept to completion, ensuring that the medical devices you develop exceed expectations in performance, quality, and reliability:
- System Architecture & Design: Develop and document the electro-mechanical system architecture, system specifications, and upper-level design descriptions.
- Subsystem Integration: Define critical interfaces between subsystems and lead collaboration with subsystem teams to ensure seamless integration of complex, software-driven electro-mechanical devices.
- Testing & Validation: Create system-level test strategies, specifications, and protocols to ensure robust performance.
- Risk Management: Conduct hazards analyses, failure modes analyses, and design mitigation strategies to ensure system safety and compliance.
- Design Optimization: Support program management by driving design goals, such as cost efficiency, size, weight, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability, while balancing competing requirements.
- Project Planning: Estimate design task effort and provide input to project timelines and plans.
- Manufacturing Support: Guide manufacturing process development, including PFMEA reviews, process refinement, and establishing manufacturing test criteria.
What You Bring to the Role
We’re seeking a technically adept and creative problem-solver with the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: MS/BS in Engineering with 5–10 years of experience in electro-mechanical machine and/or product design.
- New Product Development Expertise: Proven experience developing innovative products, ideally within the medical device industry.
- System Engineering Skills: Strong background in embedded software, complex mechanical systems, and electronics (PLC experience a plus).
- Leadership: Demonstrated technical leadership with the ability to inspire and drive project teams toward success.
- Inventive Problem-Solving: History of developing creative solutions to technical challenges.
- Requirements Management: Expertise in defining and managing requirements for performance, standards compliance, and testing.
- Testing & Analysis: Hands-on experience with product testing, experimental methods, and statistical techniques.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing processes and disposable product design is a plus.
