SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will lead the Systems Engineering development and delivery for an advanced launch vehicle.
Your responsibilities will include leading the team through various gated reviews, developing system requirements, working across teams and business units to define ICDs, and providing design recommendations.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe spaceflight.
Passion for our mission and vision is required!Special Mentions:Travel expected up to 10%Responsibilities:Lead the technical performance and risk management of a reusable space transportation systemImplement process improvements, oversight, and regular reports to program and functional management and assure specifications and requirements are developed, established, executed, and maintained consistent with the program requirements baselineDevelop and manage the technical baseline through the design reviews, including SRR, PDR, and CDRDevelop and manage the system functional, physical, system, subsystem, and component requirementsDevelop and maintain the requirements traceability for the reusable space transportation systemDevelop detailed plans/schedules in support of technical assignmentsApply extensive understanding on a wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts, and tools in the fields of space vehicles and reentry vehicles.Work independently without appreciable direction to determine the objectives of assignments and develop approaches to solutionsMentor and train other personnelMinimum Qualifications: B.S.
in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area5+ years’ experience in aerospace systems developmentAbility to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environmentUnderstanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operationsFull knowledge of space vehicles, reentry vehicles, propulsion systems, and spacecraft systems developmentPrevious experience(s) of rapidly maturing programsExperience regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problemsExcellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skillsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S.
