ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Senior Systems Engineer will be a hands-on member of the Technology Services Infrastructure group reporting to Director of Infrastructure & Creative Operations, performing the following functions:
- Document and analyze software and hardware issues
- Design, test and implement systems solutions
- Research software and hardware products and prepares purchase orders
- Provide support for business-critical systems at the highest level
- Direct troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; analyze system events to ensure continuous functioning
- Recommend course of action and implements as approved by Director
- Upgrade system software and hardware components as required to meet business needs; verifies backups
- Ensure upgrades are occurring in accordance with established parameters
- Utilize help desk to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes
- The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing enhancement, maintenance and stability of the company's creative and video production computing environment and will be a main point of contact for business-critical systems.
- Assist with data recovery from failed hard drives and corrupted files
- Provide support for remote network access and VPN configuration for teleworkers
- Provide support for antivirus and antimalware software
- Maintain both physical and virtual servers
- Manage system infrastructure including, databases, testing computer equipment, malware and other software and hardware
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise
- Monitor the system daily and respond quickly to any security breaches or usability concern
- Backup systems and verify that backups have been completed
- Regularly upgrade systems as needed
- Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system
- Research software and hardware products and prepares purchase orders
- Installation and updates of workstation and peripheral software
- Assist with recovery from application and network outages
- Assist with ensuring workstation security compliance
- Participate in On-Call rotation for after hours and weekend support
- Administrative activities to include workstation naming, IP addressing and configuration management
EXPERIENCE, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, AND SYSTEMS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent 6 years of experience required
- Experience with Juniper products required – Design and implement network of firewalls, load balancers and other network system and services
- Working knowledge of Cisco /Meraki switches, routers and wireless systems
- Working knowledge of Barracuda firewalls
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnets, routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS (Public Private), Domain Management, HTTPS, FTP, NTP
- Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services
- Working knowledge of Windows 7-10
- Working knowledge of Windows Server
- Working knowledge of AD (Active Directory)
- Working knowledge of VMware
- Working knowledge of Backup Exec or similar backups
- Experience patching/maintaining systems
- Storage experience – SAN / Synology
- Self-starter, able to multi-task
- Excellent communications skills with end users and team members
- Scripting experience is a plus
- Experience with Apple products is a plus
- This position routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, phones, printers
