In this position The Senior IT Systems Administrator will provide design, implementation and support services for our systems and datacenter operations as well as knowledge leadership to the IT Operations team. Candidates are required to possess strong knowledge of operating systems, virtualization platforms, Storage Area Networks and Networking. This role will also entail 2nd-level end-user support and desktop management activities for more complex issues. This position requires 10+ years of previous Systems Administration experience.
The Senior Systems Administrator/Systems Administrator III installs, configures, and maintains security devices, servers and applications. They also operate, monitor performance, and diagnose problems in Local Area Networks (LAN), servers and associated workstations. Monitors services and applications to ensure availability to system users; analyzes and resolves related issues; gathers information to identify needs, evaluates systems and network requirements and coordinates the implementation of new and upgraded technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for designing, maintaining and troubleshooting network, servers, SANs, virtualization platforms, disaster recovery systems and all related hardware and software applications.
· Performs system troubleshooting to determine root cause, analyze alternative solutions and implementation of the best course of action.
· Plans for and installs operating system software, patches, and upgrades.
· Assists in the implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure proper and secure operation of the LAN/WAN/WLAN environment.
· Assists new employees with account creation, providing proper security and access and setting up software/hardware and training as required.
· Remove departing employees, vendors and whomever has access to systems, network and applications within 24 hours
· Monitoring the 24x7 environment for faults and capacity and taking corrective action.
· Perform and verify system backups networked devices and ensure that all backups are maintained properly in-house and off-site based on our backup policies.
· Assist in managing Police/Fire IMC software, FIDS Flight Information system, way finder systems, common use terminals, production environments, firewalls and associated security systems.
· Providing 2nd-level support for end user desktop issues.
· Continuously updates all infrastructure documentation.
· Participate regularly in rotational weekend and off-hours on-call support.
· Cross-training IT staff for emergency level one support of other IT support areas (Storage, Cloud Services, Operating Systems, Email, Networking, VLANs, etc.) and providing support to all aspects of IT when the primary technician is not available.
· Maintain strong working relationships with users, department managers, vendors and other IT professionals to continuously improve the ability of the department to meet its mission.
· Ability to work off-hours to perform system upgrades during maintenance windows.
· Participate in special projects as appropriate.
· Provide excellent customer service.
· Any and all other duties as assigned.
· Maintains and supports the integrity of the operating system environment and various computer systems.
· Performs systems maintenance tasks such as system backup, recovery, and file maintenance to promote uptime and efficient performance.
· Acquires, installs, and tests system software upgrades and computer components.
· Configures software and resolves technical problems.
· Maintains documentation and diagrams of IT infrastructure and troubleshooting procedures.
· Installs, configures, and supports complex server-based systems.
· Recommends and deploys server hardware and software, including operating systems, applications and patches to support operations.
· Develops, maintains and supports application delivery.
· Recommends and administers security and support policies; supports, troubleshoots and maintains security for enterprise and large-scale applications.
· Manages, deploys, configures and maintains servers in a virtualized and traditional environment.
· Creates complex scripts to assist with monitoring systems, diagnostics, problem correction and automating routine tasks.
· Configures systems for high availability including strategies for backup and recovery, failover, load balancing and full redundancy.
· Installs server hardware and components including disks, memory and other components; models and tests changes to production systems accordingly.
· Diagnoses and resolves complex software and server issues.
· Creates, follows and maintains written and verbal procedures; prepares written technical documentation, training material, standards, reports and other documents.
· Maintains data centers and satellite server rooms.
· Evaluates systems and alternate solutions; develops functional specifications, standards and requirements for hardware and software purchase and design to ensure optimum system and end-user performance.
· Maintains current knowledge of server and networking hardware, software, protocols, security and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to organize, set priorities, work as a team or independently.
· Excellent written verbal communications skills required.
· Must be self-motivated with strong sense of ownership.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· Must be able to pass background checks.
· Extensive experience designing, installing, maintaining and documenting network hardware, software and operating systems.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex server issues.
· Ability to develop functional specifications, standards and requirements for hardware and software purchases and design to ensure optimum system and end-user performance.
· Ability to create complex scripts.
· Ability to perform work in a virtualized environment and manage computers remotely.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in an Information Technology field and/or equivalent experience MCSE, VCAP6-DCV, HP-ASE or similar certification preferred.
· Installation and maintenance of servers
· Expert Hardware/Software/Network/SAN troubleshooting.
· Expert Active Directory user administrationGroup Policy tools.
· Expert experience with virtualization technologies.
· Expert knowledge of desktop and business/technical support systems.
· Significant experience in managing Storage Area Networks
· 10+ years’ experience with server/network/SAN/virtualization support.
Bachelor’s degree in related field such as computer or information science. 5-7 years working as a Systems Administrator II.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.

The majority of the work this position will face will be in a typical office environment with movement to different locations as needed.
