SNI Technology's top client located in Thornton, CO is immediately seeking to hire a talented Senior Systems Administrator (VMware/Windows Server) for an exciting full-time, permanent position. Please note this position can accommodate a hybrid work environment (i.e., 1 day per week remote). Fully remote work is not available for this position.
SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINSTRATOR (VMware/Windows Server)
SNI Technology's client is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to assume a leadership role in
ensuring the functionality and operation of their IT systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role encompasses the implementation, maintenance, and operation of enterprise systems. It involves providing technical guidance in areas like capacity planning, security configuration, functional and technical design, as well as the resolution of complex issues. Additionally, this position performs and supervises tasks related to testing, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and development of operation and maintenance policies and procedures. This position works in collaboration with principal systems architects, business systems owners, IT stakeholders, and IT leadership to fulfill objectives to operate and maintain systems and infrastructure in a manner that meets our business requirements.
Description of the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate must have strong VMware and Windows Server experience in an enterprise environment. Evidence of a forward-postured cybersecurity approach in the candidate's career is
important.
Experience with any of the following: data center micro-segmentation systems including VMware NSX-T, security services including WAF, Firewall, SIEM/Infrastructure Monitoring Software is an advantage. Experience with Google applications, tools used to manage the Workspace, or commensurate experience in Microsoft Office 365/Azure Workspace is also an advantage.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, operation, and planning of the enterprise technical systems including, but not limited to network servers, data storage devices, network operating systems, virtualization systems, data backup and recovery systems, and data access security. Provides technical expertise in capacity planning, security configuration, functional and technical design of enterprise systems, and the resolution of complex problems. Oversee the testing, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and development of operation and maintenance policies and procedures. Executes enterprise server and network design, resilience analysis, planning, and implementation. Provides troubleshooting for escalated issues related to system failures and problems to avoid costly down time and service outages. Under the guidance of the Principal Systems Architects and IT leadership, collaborates with stakeholders to develop SLAs (Service Level Agreement) that fulfill objectives and implements the infrastructure to meet the SLAs and business requirements.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, plan, secure, implement, maintain and troubleshoot all centralized District Datacenter Infrastructure including servers, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and networking. Ensure the infrastructure is supported in a way that achieves a high level of availability and resilience, meeting defined service level and business requirements. (Daily, 50% of time)
- Resolve complex network and server technical issues escalated from District users and IT department staff. Perform capacity planning, resilience assurance, vulnerability analysis, business continuity / disaster recovery testing, and incident response to maintain business system readiness. (Daily, 10% of time)
- Troubleshoot and maintain District user access systems across all locations / organizational units including but not limited to, Active Directory, Domain Name Services, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), etc. (Daily, 10% of time)
- Administer, troubleshoot, implement, and maintain enterprise security measures to restrict unauthorized or inappropriate use of District resources and data. Develop and adhere to written, electronic, and physical means to enforce policies, procedures, and practices. (Daily, 10% of time)
- Provide technical expertise and makes enterprise recommendations related to standards, security, projects, implementations and rollouts, etc. Act as an organizational interface with vendors to learn about new systems / products and how they could best be utilized. (Weekly, 10% of time)
- Collaborate with District and partner stakeholders to develop and support infrastructure to meet IT Service Level Agreements allowing the District to meet its objectives and improve the customer experience with IT. (Weekly, 5% of time)
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent major. Four (4) years of similar and relevant experience may be substituted for this requirement.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in the installation and maintenance of Enterprise Network and Server management
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Operating knowledge and experience with multi-tiered enterprise applications, server operating systems, and virtualization technologies.
- Operating knowledge and experience with MS Enterprise Server management and troubleshooting.
- Operating knowledge and experience with cloud systems and services.
- Operating knowledge with system policy management, user access, security, and logging systems.
- Advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere and virtualization technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of networking and communications infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity configuration best practices.
COMPENSATION RANGE
The salary range for this position is $85K up to $115K base annually + full benefits. Please note your actual pay rate will be determined based upon your skills, knowledge, and abilities, including work experience - please talk with your recruiter to learn more.
