To be successful in this position the ideal candidate will be responsible for providing direction and general oversight to multiple construction projects of various size and complexity to promote quality outcomes, maintain Knutson's Zero Incident Safety Culture, and maximize financial performance. This position is also responsible for demonstrating a high level of commercial construction expertise that can be leveraged to create new business opportunities while always delivering The Knutson Experience to Owners, Trade Partners, and Team Blue.
The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and be accountable for enforcing Knutson's Zero Incident Safety Culture at all times.
- Participates in and lead the onsite DE&I program to further support the success of Knutson Construction and all those we interact with.
- Work closely with Preconstruction to provide guidance on constructability, schedule, site logistics, phasing plans and Subcontractor Scopes of Work.
- Prepare and track all required logs and inspections as required by OSHA, SWPPP, or others as required per local jurisdictions.
- Responsible for leading, training, and mentoring multiple Foreman, General Foreman, and Superintendents and provide their Performance Enablement feedback on a quarterly basis.
- Responsible for the overall completion of daily logs to ensure overall project risk is mitigated and documented.
- Develops Master Schedule in coordination with the project team and Subcontractors per the Contract Documents and is responsible for implementation of the Master Schedule.
- Updates the Master Schedule in coordination with the Project Manager on a monthly basis, or as required per the Contract Documents.
- Develop, manage, and implement 4-week look-ahead schedules to facilitate weekly tasks for safety, work sequencing, and site logistics.
- Lead Daily Huddles to coordinate activities and promote Knutson's Zero Incident Safety Culture.
- Serve as a liaison between the Owner and the construction team to deliver The Knutson Experience.
- Manage the Quality Assurance & Control process and practices for the project.
- Manage on-site construction project costs to maximize financial performance and minimize risk.
- Collaborate with Foreman & Project Managers to complete weekly project productivity reports, adjusting as necessary to improve productivity.
- Approve invoices and allocate construction project costs.
- Review PTM forecasted costs with project team for accuracy, on a monthly basis.
- Identify and communicate out-of-scope work to project team.
- Identify and provide documentation of project related issues (such as labor, costs, delays, weather) that can impact the financial performance of the project.
- Work with the Safety Department in responding to on-site OSHA inspections.
- Complete, communicate, and submit all required documentation for safety incidents on a timely basis.
- Resolve safety issues with non-conforming subcontractors.
- Participate in and lead Owner meetings and interactions to ensure The Knutson Experience.
- Participate in new project pursuits and interviews in coordination with Project Teams.
- Participate in business development activities to support the growth objectives of Knutson Construction.
- Recruit and provide input to the selection of qualified employees for vacant positions.
- Identify training and/or development opportunities that will assist Team Blue Members in achieving enhanced job performance and/or work-related objectives.
- Experience managing a specific trade in the past such as concrete, demolition, masonry is preferred.
- Work with Trade Superintendents for the allocation of labor as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and proficiency in using personal computers and related Microsoft software including project management applications.
- Demonstrated skill in reviewing projects not under his/her constant assignment to identify potential risks and financial exposure, including participation in The Blue Team meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic client relationships that result in new opportunities for Knutson Construction.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects.
- Ability to travel to and within project sites to oversee progress and resolve issues.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an associate degree in business or a construction related field, and 15+ years of independently managing complex commercial construction projects.
- OSHA 30 certification, or ability to complete within the first 6 months of employment.
- SWPPP certification.
