About the Job
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with structural simulation software.
- Experience with engineering and physics-based first principles.
- Experience with the mechanical properties of materials (e.g., glass, ceramics, metals, plastics, polymers, or adhesives).
- Experience with numerical methods, modeling practices, and FEA tools (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar field.
- 8 years of experience with structural simulation in the consumer electronics industry.
- Experience with designing, building and testing prototypes to validate design concepts and analysis results.
- Experience setting up both a material lab and development of validation tools.
- Experience with advanced material characterization and modeling for developing numerical models.
- Knowledge of design tools such as NX or similar CAD software.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risk, create analysis/simulation/validation plan, brainstorm and propose solutions to problems based on analysis data, iterate through the entire product development cycle to optimize the design to achieve product performance objectives.
- Own and drive analysis of cutting edge designs, enabling early optimization prior to prototyping and root cause and failure analysis of complex mechanical problems.
- Generate FEA/analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies. Use static, dynamic, structural and thermal-mechanical analysis and create and develop methods to predict field failure models.
- Build simulation models by using thorough verification, calibration, and validation techniques and best practices leading to high-quality results.
- Drive the exploration, validation and integration of new technologies, materials, analysis methods and tools to advance and expand team capabilities.
