Senior Structural Engineer (3-6 Month Contract)
Location: Tatum, TX
Contract Duration: 3-6 months
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in power plant engineering to join our team on a short-term contract basis. This role requires a dynamic professional with field experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, emergency "fix-it-now" environment. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in structural design, analysis, and problem-solving specific to industrial settings, particularly power plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis and design for power plant systems and components using STAD and RISA software.
Provide immediate solutions to structural issues in startup, shutdown, and operational phases of power plant projects.
Conduct on-site assessments and collaborate with field teams to address emergency structural concerns.
Develop and review structural engineering calculations, drawings, and reports.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to implement engineering solutions effectively.
Prepare and present technical recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications: Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on power plants or similar industrial facilities.
Hands-on field experience is essential; experience in startup and shutdown scenarios is highly preferred.
Heavy industrial design experience.
Must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, emergency-response environment.
Candidates with experience in residential, commercial, high-rise buildings, or hotels will not be considered.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in STAD and RISA software is required.
Strong understanding of structural systems, material behavior, and load analysis specific to power plant operations.
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
PE license preferred but not required.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands-on approach.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to interface with field teams and other stakeholders effectively. Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience plus per diem (if applicable).
