Job Title: Senior Structural / Civil Engineer
Employment Type: Contract
Work Hours: 40+hrs./week
Work site: 100% Onsite
Location: New York, NY 10003
Salary: $65/hr.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
- Proven track record of successful project engineering and design.
- Extensive experience in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as AISC, ACI, ASCE, and NYC Building Code.
- Experience working on commercial building and yard systems.
Job Duties:
- Engineer and design projects to support the Capital and Operations & Maintenance budgets of Facilities, including Service Centers and Commercial Buildings.
- Prepare or direct the preparation of design packages (specifications/drawings) and review contractor shop drawings.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis and conceptual studies to determine optimal designs.
- Prepare or direct the preparation of budgets and appropriation requests for specific projects.
- Provide civil/structural engineering support for various types of commercial building/yard systems.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, occasionally as the team leader, supporting architects, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
- Interface with in-house designers and external consulting engineers.
- Contribute to facility project design, operational and maintenance support, root cause investigations of incidents, and system inspections.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
- Thorough understanding of applicable codes, including AISC, ACI, ASCE, and NYC Building Code.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Proven record of providing civil/structural engineering support for various types of commercial building/yard systems.
- Familiarity with cost estimation and budgeting processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Miscellaneous Information:
- Position may require occasional travel to project sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for structural analysis and design.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to industry best practices.
- Interviews will be conducted via online or in-person, based on availability.
