Job Description:
- Role
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to design, test, and refine instrumentation development
- Work closely with Contract Design and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) to develop robust manufacturing assembly and testing procedures
- Drive external regulatory and reliability testing to meet defined requirements
- Work directly with Field Service and Applications teams to produce documentation to support the instrumentation in the field
- Lead efforts for tracking and troubleshooting issues and bugs in coordination with hardware, software, biology, service, and manufacturing teams
- Coordinate sustaining engineering effort to drive continuous improvement of procedures and design
- Develop and implement test procedures for instrument calibration, commissioning, and IQ/OQ/PQ
- Qualifications
- Hold minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Science
- 5+ years of experience developing instrumentation, ideally in the life science/medical device field
- Demonstrated experience managing products through the entire life cycle, from prototype to production
- Proficient with 3D design software, preferably Solidworks
- Proficiency designing and working with electro-mechanical systems (steppers, dc motors, linear rails/guide), fluidics (pumps, tubing, valving), and thermal components ( TECs, thermistors, PID control)
- Experience with developing jigs and fixtures for test, assembly, and calibration
- Understanding of instrumentation regulatory testing
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience developing, documenting, and implementing new processes for test and manufacturing
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills for driving improvements and troubleshooting
- Ability to efficiently develop experiments, run tests, analyze data, and draw conclusions to determine next steps
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player in a diverse and interdisciplinary team
- Ability to work 100% on-site, and collaborate effectively with a team to drive innovative solutions
- Ability to travel up to 10% to collaborator sites
- Nice to Have
- Strong preference for those with optical systems experience
- Experience developing test scripts using Python, MATLAB, or similar
- Background in image processing and analysis
