Senior Staff Engineer, Product Reliability - Switch4 LLC

Summary:
This experienced engineer will be directly involved in overall engineering evaluation of our Energy Technology products with specialized focus on roof top module level power electronics (MLPE) products and its interactions with energy storage devices. This engineer will be responsible for setting reliability goals, reviewing Design for Reliability (DFA), and monitoring and executing reliability demonstration tests. This person is expected to drive component and system level risk assessment and develop and monitor methodologies to evaluate design robustness and reliability.

This position will report to the Engineering Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive the engineering teams to meet high product performance and reliability standards through DfR reviews, suggestions and guidance.
• Develop design verification and validation plans and report (DVP&Rs) for reliability assessment of Clean Energy products at component and/or system level.
• Gain a deep understanding of the operating environment and performance requirements for our Clean Energy products.
• Create detailed procedures and reports documenting all findings and conclusions.
• Provide input during Risk Assessments, FMEA/DFMEAs, and Design Reviews.
• Ensure that test plans address requirements in all applicable standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.)
• Assist test development team with test setups and work with product development team to ensure functionality coverage during testing and its monitoring.
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during reliability tests.
• Monitor and determine status of reliability demonstration tests and report out to the leadership.
• Manage third party resources (external labs, consultants, etc.) to fulfill delegated work packages including statement of work development, scope management, commercial agreements, and Engineering reports.
• Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
• Mentor and teach less experienced engineers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline). A Master's degree is preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in reliability engineering or product development, preferably in the energy technology or power electronics sector.
  • Proven track record of conducting Design for Reliability (DFR) reviews and implementing reliability testing methodologies.
